Procedure - Harvesting
Hattingen Hair Transplantation Break
The hair on the back and sides of the scalp tends to be permanent and is therefore known as the donor area or donor site.
Follicular Units are harvested from the "donor" area by means of a single bladed elliptical strip excision. This "Single Strip" method is an integral part of FUT, as this method allows for the constant variation in the incision angle and thus minimizes damage to irreplaceable hair follicles. It is a vast improvement over the multi-bladed knife technique, still used by many mini- micro graft practitioners, that causes levels of transection and destruction of the limited donor hair that we feel are not acceptable.
Hattingen Hair Transplantation Spacer Once removed the donor area is sutured closed, the resulting scar is a pencil-thin line, virtually undetectable, being easily concealed by the hair above it immediately after surgery.
